THE DREAM TEAM:
BRUNS & NORTHERNLIGHT
When you want to transform a vision
into reality, you need partners who’ve
done it brilliantly before. Enter Bruns
and NorthernLight — two powerhouses
who’ve been creating museum magic
together for more than 25 years. Bruns,
led by Managing Director Bo Burgmans,
brought 60 years of production expertise,
engineering everything from the
spectacular rainbow climbing structure
to kid-proof surfaces that withstand
thousands of tiny hands. NorthernLight,
making its U.S. debut under Director
Peter Slavenburg, integrated its creative
vision developed from 250 projects across
30 countries — knowing exactly how to
balance the wow factor with the practical
reality of thousands of preschoolers
descending on a museum hall.
MIKE SPIEWAK
Every great transformation
needs a leader who dreams
big while paying attention
to every detail. That’s Mike
Spiewak, our vice president
of exhibits. His background
spans art direction and set
design in film, exhibit design,
and creative direction
before joining the Museum.
Mike has a storied history
with the Museum, having
been hired to help open it in 2012. He oversaw
the construction of all 11 original exhibition
halls and, since then, has led the complete
transformation of two halls and other multiple
large-scale projects. For the Children’s Museum,
Mike brought compelling storytelling, engineering
pragmatism, and a deep understanding
of what makes the Perot Museum special,
creating a space that honors our youngest
learners’ capacity for wonder.
